history
Prehistory (2016)
Between 2010 and 2016 the professional club Chungju Hummel FC was based in the city, which played its games in the Chungju Stadium . The club lost a lot of popularity over the past few years and the club could not record any success, so the city wanted to sell the club. Since no buyer was found, the decision was made with the Hummel company to dissolve the association. In 2017 the city was allowed to host the annual National Sports Festival, for which a new stadium was built. After the end of the games, the city announced that the sports facility would continue to be used regularly in the form of an amateur club.
Foundation (2017)
The association was founded on December 21, 2017. President of the association was the mayor of the city, Yeo Myeong-gu. The first coach of the new club was Kong Mun-bae .
First season (2018)
Under Kong Mun-bae, the club played well. By the end of the season, the club was in second place in the league, before they lost unluckily at the end of the season and slipped to fourth place in the table. The 4th place enabled them to participate in the play-off games. Since the 3rd placed in the Busan FC league withdrew, the play-off game against the 5th placed Yangju Citizen FC became the play-off final. The game ended 0-0, but since Chungju was the host and had home rights, they automatically won the game. In the relegation games to the K3 League Advance they should meet the fourth division team Cheongju FC . But since the club announced after the end of the season that it would merge with Cheongju City FC , the relegation games were canceled and Chungju was automatically confirmed as a promoted team. They got along well in the cup. In the first main round of the cup they met Woosuk University , which they defeated 1-0. In the following round they met Konkuk University , which they could beat 2-0. In the third main round, they met the third division side Busan TC FC next . This game was lost 4-0.
