Chungju Hummel FC was a soccer franchise based in Chungju , South Korea . The franchise played in the K League Challenge , the second highest division in South Korea.

history

The franchise was founded in 1999 and is a founding member of the K League Challenge. From 2003 to 2012 they played in the Korea National League , where they could not celebrate much success. Chungju Hummel FC has been playing in the newly founded K League Challenge since 2013 .

In the first K League Challenge season , they only came in last. In the following K League Challenge season they were penultimate. In the 2015 season they again only came in last. In 2016 it didn't get any better in terms of sport. Far behind, they finished the season in penultimate place with only 29 points from 40 games. Since Hummel could not find a buyer for the club, Chungju Hummel was dissolved at the end of 2016.

Development of the club name

From 1999 to 2003 the club was called Hummel Korea FC, later from 2003 to 2006 Uijeongbu Hummel FC. From 2006 to 2008 the club was called Icheon Hummel FC. The club was then called Nowon Hummel FC from 2008 to 2010. Since 2010 the club has been called Chungju Hummel FC.
