history

Prehistory (2019)

From 1997 to 2019, Daejeon Citizen was the only professional football club in South Korea for a long time that was financed by the city. The club has been more or less successful over the years. At the beginning of 2019 the mayor of the city started a discussion about the financial burden of the association for the city. Accordingly, the financial burden of the club for the city is very high, while the sporting success of the club failed to materialize. In autumn 2019 rumors surfaced that the city was in negotiations with various companies that were interested in taking over the association. The city later confirmed these rumors. At the end of 2019, the city announced that the association would be handed over to the Hana Financial Group , which will take care of the association from 2020. The Hana Financial Group announced at the end of 2019 that a new Daejeon club would take over Daejeon Citizen FC's league space in the second division. Thus, the Daejeon Citizen FC era ended at the end of 2019.

Foundation (2020)

The new logo and the new jersey of the club were also presented at the ceremony. It was also announced that Hwang Seon-hong, the club's new coach, was signed. One of the first commitments the club made was the commitment of Connor Chapman , who had been in South Korea from the beginning of 2017 to the end of 2018.
