Kim Il-jin (* 1956 in Manpo ) is a North Korean conductor .
He studied cello at the University of Music and Dance in Pyongyang and conducting at the Moscow Conservatory . In Germany he attended conducting courses. In 1985 in West Berlin he received a 2nd prize (the 1st prize was not awarded) at the international competition of the Herbert von Karajan Foundation for his conducting . He is the conductor of the Yun I Sang Philharmonic Orchestra (kor. 윤이상 관현악단 Yun I-sang kwanhyŏn aktan ), a chamber orchestra in Pyongyang , which he founded in 1990.
