history
Foundation and entry into the KNL (1999–2002)
The club was founded on May 6, 1999 as Sangmu FC . The club played until the end of 2002 in the KSPF League , the semi-professional league until then. The club could not celebrate any significant success in this competition.
KNL period (2003-2005)
The club joined the newly formed Korea National League in early 2003 and moved to Icheon to have a home ground. During this time, the association entered into a cooperation agreement with the city. Coach during this time was Lee Kang-jo .
The first season of the KNL was played in a round-trip series. In the first round series they reached a good 4th place. The club surprisingly won the second half of the season, which is why they qualified for the subsequent championship final. In the final the Goyang KB Kookmin Bank FC was received . The first leg was lost 3-2, the second leg ended 2-2. The club thus narrowly missed the league championship. In the following season, the club was unable to match its previous year's performance. They finished the first half of the season in third place, while the second half of the season had to end on a disappointing sixth place. The club could therefore not qualify for the league championship final. In the following season they ended the first round series on a disappointing 6th place again. The second half of the series went much better with a 2nd place, but they just missed the league championship final with 3 points behind. At the end of 2005 it was decided that Icheon Sangmu FC will be dissolved and the team will be integrated into Gwangju Sangmu Bulsajo FC .
