Icheon ( kor. 이천 ) is a city in the South Korean province of Gyeonggi-do . It should not be confused with the much larger city of Incheon or with the North Korean district of Ich'ŏn ( 이천 군 ).
The city is located in the very southeast of the province and is connected to the Yeongdong Expressway and the Jungbu Naeryuk Expressway . During the Goryeo dynasty, the city was named Namcheon . Mayor is Cho Byeong Don ( 조병돈 ).
Icheon is home to Cerapia , an exhibition center for contemporary ceramic work . The center is located in Seolbong Park ( 설봉 공원 ), in which the mountain and lake of the same name are located. The mountainous area around the city is known for growing rice and peaches. The traditional Buddhist temples Youngwolam , Youngwonsa , Sinheungsa and Yeonhwajeongsa are located in Icheon .
Semiconductor manufacturer SK Hynix and elevator manufacturer Hyundai Elevator , a Hyundai Group company , are headquartered in Icheon.
