Siheung ( Kor. 시흥 ) is a city in the South Korean province of Gyeonggi-do . It borders Incheon and Bucheon to the north, Gwangmyeong and Anyang to the east, and Ansan to the south .

During the Three Kingdoms , the Siheung area was part of the Baekje Kingdom. In 475 it was conquered by the Goguryeo dynasty.

Siheung received its current administrative form on January 1, 1989, when the old area was divided into the cities of today's Siheung, Gunpo and Uiwang . At that time Siheung had only 93,000 inhabitants. That number has more than quadrupled since then, due to its proximity to Seoul. Siheung also includes two planned cities , Sihwa and Wolgot New City , which were established in the 1990s . A large industrial area also belongs to the city.

The administrative area includes the island of Oido and the port of Volgot . The Soraesan is also here.
