Arthur John Cronquist

Arthur John Cronquist (born March 19, 1919 in San José , California , † March 22, 1992 in Provo , Utah ) was an American botanist . Its official botanical author's abbreviation is " Cronquist ".

Live and act

Cronquist worked at the New York Botanical Garden , the Bronx Botanical Garden in New York City . He is known for his systematics of the covering ones . His books on plant classification are considered to be his major works. Cronquist died of heart failure at the age of 73 on March 22, 1992 while doing research at the Brigham Young University Herbarium .

Honors

In 1986 Cronquist was awarded the Linné Medal by the Linnean Society of London . According to him, the plant genera Cronquistia R.M.King and Cronquistianthus R.M.King & H.Rob. from the family of the daisy family named (Asteraceae).
