Politics and world events
Eastern Roman Empire
- January 9th : Verina , mother-in-law of the Eastern Roman emperor Zenon and her brother Basiliscus conspire against the emperor. Zenon flees Constantinople because of the planned palace revolt.
- January 10th : Basiliscus is proclaimed Byzantine (counter) emperor. A little later his son Marcus was raised to caesar .
Western Europe
- October 31 : After his predecessor Julius Nepos has been driven out, Romulus Augustulus is proclaimed the last Western Roman emperor by the troops at the instigation of his father Orestes . However , he is not recognized as emperor by the Eastern Roman Empire .
- Trier comes under the rule of the Rhine Franks ; Cologne is also becoming Franconian. Since the local ruler of Triers, Arbogast the Younger , is a Catholic, the Christian faith is preserved.
- Eurich , King of the Visigoths , gives Provence back to Westrom and in return receives complete independence for his people (see Visigoth Empire ).
- 475/ 476 : The Visigoths is Codex Euricianus a popular law in Latin, which both the Germans governs the legal relations as well as the novels in the country recorded.
East asia
- Under King Jangsu , the Korean empire Goguryeo invades neighboring Baekje and conquers Pyongyang and the capital Hanseong within a short time . Baekjes King Gaero is captured and killed along with numerous members of the royal family. The new King Munju relocates the seat of government to Ungjin , which offers more protection from attackers from the north, but is also very inaccessible and therefore unsuitable as a capital in the long term.
