Marcus ( ancient Greek Μάρκος ; † 476 in Limnai , Cappadocia ) was the son and co-regent of the Eastern Roman counter-emperor Basiliskos from 475 to 476. His mother was Aelia Zenonis .
In January 475, Basiliscus deposed Zenon in a palace revolution and expelled him into exile in Syria . Shortly after taking over the government in Constantinople , Marcus was made Caesar and promoted to Augustus that same year . In August 476, Zeno returned to power with military help. According to some late antique sources, Marcus and his parents fled to the protected area of a church , but were captured and, at Zenon's behest, exiled to Limnae in Cappadocia, where they were imprisoned in a dry cistern and left to die of thirst.
