- The Vandals besieged the port city of Hippo Regius from 430 to 432 ; During this time the church father Augustine also dies .
- June 22nd - July 31st, 431 : Council of Ephesus , third ecumenical council. It rejects Nestorianism and calls Mary the Theotokos . Even the Pelagianism is considered heretical condemned. Patriarch Nestorius of Constantinople is deposed. The Assyrian Church does not recognize the council resolutions and splits off.
- 434 : Attila and his brother Bleda win the leadership of the Huns .
- 436 : Destruction of the Burgundian Empire by the Roman Magister militum Aëtius with the help of Hunnic auxiliaries, after a breach of contract on the part of the Burgundians . The king of the Burgundy, Gundahar , falls in battle. These events form the historical context to the core of the Nibelungen saga . Gundioch becomes the new king of the rest of the people .
