- October 19 : The Vandals under King Geiseric conquer Carthage , breaking the treaty with the Western Roman military leader Flavius Aëtius . In place of Hippo Regius, it becomes the new residence of the Vandals and the base of their navy.
- The western Roman general Litorius defeated the Visigoths near Narbonne and besieged the Visigoth capital Toulouse , but he was taken prisoner. Flavius Aëtius then negotiates a Visigothic-Roman peace.
- All of North China is in the hands of the Northern Wei Dynasty. End of the Epoch of the Sixteen Kingdoms .
