Yongin ( kor. 용인시 ) is a city in the South Korean province of Gyeonggi-do . The city is located in the Sudogwon metropolitan area south of Seoul and has 953,084 inhabitants. Yongin's area is roughly the same as Seoul, but 54% of the area of Yongin is forested and 20% is used for agriculture. Seoul can be reached in around 30 minutes on the Gyeongbu Expressway . The city is also connected to Seoul by the Bundang Line of the Seoul Subway .
Yongin was only granted city ( -si ) status on March 1, 1996 . Mayor is Kim Hak-kyu ( 김학규 ).
The pharmaceutical company GC Pharma is based in Yongin.
Everland amusement park with its Caribbean Bay water park is located in Yongin .
The Yong-In University and the University Kangnam have in Yongin. The domiciled Foreign Studies University Hankuk and Myongji University have a campus in the city.
