Yangpyeong FC is a soccer franchise based in Yangpyeong City , South Korea . The club takes part in the K3 League Advance , the fourth highest division in South Korea.
history
Beginnings of the association (2016)
In 2015, the city administration of Yangpyeong announced that it would have a newly founded club compete in the K3 League for the 2016 season. For this they engaged the trainer Cha Seung-ryong . In its first season, the club successfully prevailed against 19 other teams for one of the first twelve places in the newly founded K3 League Advance and reached 10th place, which was considered a surprise. In the Korean FA Cup , too, the club beat K3 League member Jeonju FC 2-1 in the 2nd round and reached the 3rd round. There he lost 3-1 to Yeungnam University and was eliminated from the cup.
Present (2017-)
In 2017 they won the second round cup game on penalties against the amateur team of SMC Engineering . They faced Chungbuk Cheongju FC in the third round of the Cup and won this game 3-1. In the 4th round, however, the team had to admit defeat against third division Mokpo City FC with 0: 1. Things went very well for Yangpyeong FC in the league. The club finished the regular season on a very good 4th place in the table and thus qualified for the league championship. In the league championship they met Hwaseong FC . The game ended 1-1, but since Hwaseong FC were the hosts, Hwaseong FC advanced one round in the league championship, while Yangpyeong FC's league season ended after this game.
After the good league end in 2017, the club set the goal of qualifying for the league championship again. However, the club never played for the league championship qualification in the 2018 season . The club ended the league season on a disappointing 8th place in the table. In the cup, however, things went much better. In the cup they received the fifth division side Siheung Citizen FC , whom they could beat 2-1. In the following round of the cup they received the first division club Sangju Sangmu FC . After the end of regular time it was surprisingly 2-2 draw. Yangpyeong won the subsequent penalty shoot-out 4-2, causing a surprise. In the last sixteen they met a first division club, Daegu FC . Daegu FC, however, had to admit defeat 8-0. After the end of the season, Cha Seung-ryong had to leave the club despite very good cup results. Kim Kyeong-beom was introduced as the successor.
