Goyang Citizen FC is a football franchise based in Goyang , South Korea . The club plays in the K3 League Basic , the fifth highest division in South Korea.

history

First years (2008-2011)

The club was founded in 2008 under the name Goyang FC . The club's first coach was Kim Jin-ok. In their first season, the club did not get past the penultimate place. The club only reached 10 points and could not qualify for the Korean FA Cup . In 2009 the club changed its to Goyang Citizen FC . The 2009 season went a little better for the club. The club finished the season in 15th place out of 17th, but again failed to qualify for the Korean FA Cup. In 2010, the club was also not successful. At the end of the season, the club did not get past the bottom of the table. In 2011, the club did not get beyond the last place in the table.

Insignificance (2012-2016)

In 2012, the club again failed to qualify for the Korean FA Cup. The club landed again only in last place. 2013 did not go any better: the club was again in the last place in the table after the end of the season. The 2014 season went better. The club ended the season for the first time since 2009 not in the last place in the table. In the end the club was able to win 8th place in the table. In 2015, the club was able to win 8th place in the table again. The club was also in the Korean FA Cup for the first time since the club was founded. In the first round of the cup they received the amateur selection of the Mokpo Christian Hospital , which they could beat 2-0. In the second round of the cup they received the Woosuk University , against which they lost 4-0. The 2016 season was about qualifying for the K3 League Advance . The club ended the season on the penultimate place in the table and thus relegated to the newly founded K3 League Basic . The cup season, however, went better. In the first round of the cup they received the amateur selection of Jeju City Hall , against which they could win with 4: 1. In the subsequent second cup round, however, they lost 2-1 against league rivals Paju Citizen FC .

Present (2017−)

In 2017 the team was reorganized. Still, it wasn't enough for much in the league. The club finished the season in penultimate place again. The club didn't get far in the cup either. The club failed in the first cup round at the Gangwon Catholics Gwandong University with 2: 3. In 2018 things didn't look any better in the league. Although the club collected more points, it was only enough for the penultimate place in the table. As in the previous year, the club was eliminated in the first round of the cup. There they lost to league rivals Yangju Citizen FC with 0: 3.
