The K3 League 2016 was the tenth season of the fourth highest South Korean football league under this name.
The season started in March and ended in October. The 20 clubs play a semi-series with 19 games together. The 11 best clubs then qualify for the K3 League Advance . The other remaining 12th to 15th place in the table will play in the play-offs for the K3 League Advance 2017. The other 8 clubs will play in the K3 League Basic next season .

Championship tournament
In the championship tournament, the 5th best teams play for the championship. The 2nd placed plays against the 5th placed and the 3rd against the 4th placed. The winners of this round play against each other in the semifinals. The winner of the semi-finals will play in the final against the 1st placed, FC Pocheon for the championship. The winner of the final is K3-League Champion 2016.

Promotion Games
In the promotion games, those placed 12th to 15th play for promotion to the K3 Advance. In the first round, the 12th place against the 15th and the 13th against the 14th place must play. The winners of these games play for promotion in the final. The winner moves up to the K3 Advance.
