K League Classic 2015

The K League Classic 2016 was the 34th season of the highest South Korean football league since it was founded in 1983. The regular season began on March 12, 2016 and ended on October 2, 2016. This was followed by the championship and relegation rounds. The defending champion was Jeonbuk Hyundai Motors .

    Jeonbuk Hyundai Motors was deducted nine points after an employee was convicted of corruption . He bribed two referees in 2013. As a result, the club was also excluded from participating in the Champions League in January 2017. Jeju United moved up to the group stage and Ulsan Hyundai took over the place in the play-off round.

    The 5th of the relegation round of the K League Classic 2016 played against the play-off winner of the K League Challenge 2016 in a play-off round with a round trip for relegation . The first leg took place on November 17 and the second leg on November 20, 2016. The winner qualified for the K League Classic 2017 .
