Choi Jin-cheul (born March 26, 1971 ) is a former South Korean soccer player and current coach .

Choi played for the South Korean first division club Jeonbuk Hyundai Motors from 1996 until his retirement in 2007 . With the club he won the South Korean Cup three times . The defender also won the Korean Super Cup against Ilhwa Chunma with the team in 2004 . 2006 saw the greatest triumph of his career when they won the AFC Champions League in the final against Al-Karama .

Choi took part in the world championships in 2002 and 2006 . In total, since his debut on August 10, 1997, he played 65 international matches for South Korea against Brazil , scoring 5 goals.

After the end of his active career, Choi worked as a football coach. First he worked for several years as an assistant coach at Gangwon FC . At the beginning of 2013 he switched to the South Korean association and was in charge of several youth national teams until the end of 2015. In November 2015, he took over the Pohang Steelers as head coach in the K League . In September 2016 he gave up this post again. Since 2019 he has been Hao Wei's assistant coach for the Chinese U-23 national team .
