The K League Challenge 2017 (also called KEB Bank K League Challenge 2017 for sponsorship reasons ) was the fifth season of the second highest South Korean football league since it was founded in 2013. Last year's champions were Ansan Mugunghwa FC , which was dissolved. The regular season began on March 4th and ended on October 29th, 2017. After the regular season, the play-off games and the relegation games were played.
Change to the preseason
- Goyang FC Zaicro stepped out of the K League off to the K3 League to join
- Chungju Hummel FC was dissolved after no buyer could be found for the club
- Ansan Greeners FC joined the K League and started in the K League Challenge
- Ansan Mugunghwa FC was dissolved and was replaced by Ansan Greeners FC
- Asan Mugunghwa FC joined the K League and started in the K League Challenge

Play-off and relegation games
The 2017 K League Play-Off and Relegation Games were the 5th edition of the South Korean Play-Off and Relegation Games between the K League Classic and the K League Challenge since the official launch in 2013. It took place after the regular season of both leagues. All play-off teams from the K League Challenge and the penultimate team from the K League Classic were eligible to participate.

First, the play-off winner was determined. In addition, in the semi-finals of the play-off games, the 3rd placed of the K League Challenge 2017 received the 4th placed in the same league. The winner played in the play-off final against the 2nd placed. Who won, competed in the relegation against the penultimate of the K League Classic 2017 . The winner of the relegation qualified for the next season in the K League Classic and the loser had to compete in the K League Challenge next season . So far, the K League Challenge clubs have always been able to prevail in the relegation.
