Lee Heung-sil (born July 10, 1961 ) is a former South Korean soccer player who last played for Chonbuk Buffalo . He is under contract with Ansan Greeners FC as a coach. He had led Ansan Mugunghwa FC to the championship of the K League Challenge in 2016 .

Career as a player

Adolescence

Lee Heung-sil was at Masan Technical High School from 1980 to 1983 before going to Hanyang University for four years .

Football career in South Korea

Lee Heung-sil signed his first professional contract with POSCO Atoms in 1985 while still a student . While studying, he also played for POSCO Atoms. In his seven years at POSCO, he played 182 games and scored 48 goals. In 1993 he moved to Chonbuk Buffalo , the predecessor club of Jeonbuk Hyundai Motors . At the end of the season he retired and became a coach.

Career in the national team

Lee Heung-sil was nominated for the national team in 1982 while he was still in high school. Until 1990 he had a few sporadic missions before he ended his career in the national team in 1990.

Career as a coach

His first coaching position was his high school, Masan Technical High School. He stayed there for twelve years, from 1993 to 2005, as a coach. In 2005 he moved to Jeonbuk Hyundai Motors, where he was the second assistant coach until 2011. In 2012 he was employed as an interim trainer. It wasn't until 2014 that he became the second assistant coach of Gyeongnam FC again . From the 2015 season he was the coach of Ansan Mugunghwa FC . In the 2016 season he managed to win the championship of the K League Challenge with his team. At the end of 2016, when Ansan Mugunghwa FC moved to Asan , he left the club and went to the newly formed club Ansan Greeners FC . He is the first coach of this club.
