al-Qari'a

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Al-Qāriʿa ( Arabic القارعة, DMG al-Qāriʿa  'The Rumble'; 'The Catastrophe') is the 101st sura of the Koran , it contains 11 verses . The sura is one of the early parts of the Qur'an that was revealed in Mecca (610–615). Their title refers to the first verse.

The sura speaks of Judgment Day and God's retribution. The first three verses correspond almost exactly to the first three verses of Sura 69الحاقّة / al-Ḥāqqa  / 'In which it comes true', in which the end of time is also mentioned. With reference to the day when people will be like scattered moths and the mountains like disheveled wool , the loss of human and cosmological order is described. The good life in paradise follows as a reward for heavy scales , i.e. H. for good works, and the fiery fire of hell as punishment for light scales.
