an-Nabaʾ

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

An-Nabaʾ ( Arabic النبأ an-Nabaʾ  'The Announcement') is the 78th sura of the Koran , it contains 40 verses . The sura belongs to the first Meccan period (610–615), its title refers to the second verse. It can be divided into two parts of equal length. The first part, up to verse 20, describes the joys of this world : heaven and earth, sun and rain, mountains, plants and gardens, the peace of the night for loving couples. After a transition with the announcement of the last day , the description of the hereafter follows from verse 21: the horrors of hell for the wicked, paradise as a reward for the godly. In verse 39, God warns of the "day of truth," but people must choose to return to it.
