At-Takwīr ( Arabic التكوير at-Takwīr  'The Wrapping'; 'The enveloping') is the 81st sura of the Koran , it contains 29 verses . The sura belongs to the first Meccan period (610–615), its title refers to verse 1. Together with sura 82 and 99 it belongs to the so-called apocalyptic suras.

The first fourteen verses deal with the terrifying signs of God's judgment and retribution. The final, second part emphasizes the authenticity of Muhammad's prophetic message . The Koran is neither a human word nor “the speech of a stoned Satan ”, but was brought from God the Prophet through the angel Gabriel .
