Al-Insān , Arabic الإنسان al-insān  'Man', is the 76th sura of the Koran , it contains 31 verses . Another name of the sura isالدهر / ad-Dahr  / 'Die Zeit'. Both terms appear in the first verse. There are differences of opinion regarding the dating. The Cairin edition of the Koran considers the sura to be medicinal . The French orientalist Régis Blachère , on the other hand, advocates the first Meccan period (610–615), while Nöldeke and Schwally advocate the second Meccan period (615–620).

Thematically, this sura is divided into two parts. The first part, verses 1-22, describes the creation of man from a drop and the otherworldly reward in Paradise for the righteous, who are distinguished by feeding the needy, orphans and prisoners . The second part from verse 23 onwards mentions the sending of the Koran, the prophetic mission of Muhammad and the attitude of the people towards it. Verse 29 is repeated verbatim in sura 73:19 : “This is a memory. Whoever wants to take a path to his master. "
