Jurong Bird Park Panorail
The Jurong Bird Park Panorail was a 1.7 kilometer long, now disused monorail in Jurong Bird Park in Singapore .
history
The monorail had four air-conditioned cars, with a driver in the first car and seats in all cars but no standing room. Tickets cost five Singapore dollars for adults and three Singapore dollars for children under five. The ticket was only valid for one round. There were handicapped accessible elevators at all stations and the seats in the last car could be folded up to make room for wheelchairs. The monorail took twelve minutes to complete a full lap.
The monorail started operating in April 1992 and was shut down twenty years later in April 2012. It was by a vehicle traveling on air-filled rubber tires on the road trackless train replaced, identical to the Singapore Zoo and the Night Safari. The cost of the tickets remained unchanged, but the ticket is now valid for three rounds as opposed to one round on the monorail.
The highlights of the park are the flamingo pond, the penguins, the Birds and Buddies Show and the bird of prey show. Passengers criticized that the Panorail drove too fast to view or photograph the birds in the aviaries .
Stations
The monorail had three stations:
- Main Station, at the entrance near the amphitheater
- Lory Station, at Lory Loft
- Waterfall Station, by the waterfall aviary and Jurong Falls
