al-Bayyina

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Al-Bayyina ( Arabic البينة, DMG al-Bayyina  'The clear proof') is the 98th sura of the Koran , it contains 8 verses . Its title refers to the last word of the first verse.

The sura testifies to the rift between Muhammad on the one hand and the people of the Scriptures , i.e. H. the Jews and Christians, as well as the polytheists on the other hand. She accuses them of unbelief and threatens them with the fire of hell as God's punishment. But the gardens of Eden are promised to those who believe and do good works . Verse 5 emphasizes the importance of prayer to Allah as the only God and the giving of alms tax as a religious duty.

The sura was probably written after the banu Qainuqa tribe were expelled from Medina in 624. The majority of Muslim commentators assume that the sura was revealed in Medina, although some also argue that it is Meccan .
