Joachim Felsch

Joachim Felsch (born September 18, 1955 ) is a German lawyer and deputy chairman of the 4th Civil Senate of the Federal Court of Justice .

Life

After graduating from high school in Landau in the Palatinate , studying and first state examination in 1979 in Munich, Felsch did his legal traineeship and the second state examination in 1982 in Hamburg. Since 1983 Felsch was a judge in Hamburg , initially in various departments of the district court, mainly as a criminal and juvenile judge , and also an examiner in the one-stage Hamburg legal training at the time. From 1989 to 1990 Felsch was seconded to the Hamburg judicial authority as a supervisory officer and legal advisor in the penal system. From 1990–1994 Felsch was a judge in civil matters at the Hamburg-Altona District Court , after which he was seconded to the 1st Criminal Division of the Federal Court of Justice as a research assistant until 1997 . After his return to Hamburg, Felsch was a member of the 2nd Criminal Senate of the Hanseatic Higher Regional Court in Hamburg until 2001 . In 2001 he was elected judge at the Federal Court of Justice. Since July 2001 Felsch has been a member of the IV Civil Senate (responsible for insurance contract law, among other things). He is currently Vice Chairman of that Senate.

Felsch is editor of the insurance law journal Recht und Schaden .

He is married and has three children.
