Career as a player

Youth at Hanyang University

Hang-seo graduated from Hanyang University and played for her university team.

societies

Park Hang-seo joined Jeil Bank FC in early 1981. Since there was no professional league at the time, he was a player in an amateur club. In mid-1981 he moved to Yukgun FC and stayed there until 1983. Since the team was not included in the newly formed K League , he moved to Lucky Goldstar Hwangso . The first season was rather moderate for him and his club. They could not qualify for the championship games either in the first or second round. 1985 went much better for him and his club. He became a K League champion for the first time in his career. This was also the first title for his club. In 1986 he was second with his club in the first half of the season, but he was able to be first with his club in the second half of the season. In the championship games, however, they failed at POSCO Atoms with 1: 2 and could therefore not defend the title. In 1987 he finished 5th with his club only disappointed. In 1988 the club was only disappointed 4th with him and after the end of the season he ended his career as a player.

National team

In 1978 the KFA recognized his potential and invited him to the U-20 national team. The following year, at the age of 20, he was appointed to the first national team. He was in the national team until 1982 before he was no longer appointed to the national team.

Career as a coach

After his career as a player, he was hired as a coach at his old club LG Cheetahs , previously called Lucky Goldstar Hwangso. He was allowed to act as a coach in the 1989 and 1990 seasons before he worked as a co-coach in the club from 1991. In 1994 he was also the coach of the South Korean national team . Until the end of the year he was in charge of the national team. In early 1997 he was introduced as a co-trainer at Suwon Samsung Bluewings , which aroused strong dislike among LG Cheetahs fans. To this day, FC Seoul fans take this very badly. He stayed for 3 years before he was employed again by the national team as a co-coach. He also looked after the team at the 2002 World Cup in his country and contributed to the success of the national team. After the World Cup, he became the coach of the U-23 national team in his country. There he was only until the end of 2002. In early 2003 he signed a contract with the Pohang Steelers as co-trainer. However, he only stayed there until the end of 2004. In early 2005, he was introduced to Gyeongnam FC as the new coach. He stayed until 2007 before he left the club for Jeonnam Dragons . He was employed there as a trainer until 2010. At the end of 2010, he did not renew his contract, so that he was unemployed from 2011. In 2012, Sangju Sangmu FC announced that they had signed him as the new coach. In 2013 he celebrated the championship with his team and, after winning the relegation, also promoted to the K League Classic . 2014 was mixed. After his club got off to a good start and played very well until the end of the first half of the season, his club fell into the league basement in the second half of the season. At the end of the season he could no longer prevent relegation and he had to relegate his team back to the K League Challenge . In 2015 it was again much more successful. With his team he was able to become champion again after 2013 and rise again. At the end of 2015 he announced that he wanted to leave the club. This ended his most successful station as a trainer. For the new season, the club Changwon FC announced that they have signed him as a new coach.
