history
prehistory
Between 2007 and 2008, the Hwaseong Shinwoo Electronics association , which took part in the K3 League , was based in the city of Hwaseong . The association belonged to the Shinwoo Electronics company, which ran the association in cooperation with the city. In both seasons, the club finished the regular season in second place and then reached the final, which they lost. In 2009 Shinwoo Electronics ended the cooperation with the city of Hwaseong and moved to Samcheok . Shortly afterwards, the city announced that it would let its own club take part in the K3 League in the coming years.
Foundation (2013)
In the meantime, between 2009 and 2011, the Hwaseong Stadium was built to house the future club. Four years later, on January 23, 2013, the city government officially announced that it had founded Hwaseong FC, which will take part in the upcoming season. The club's first coach was Kim Jong-bu .
First seasons (2013-2016)
In their first season they competed in a group of 9 teams. The club managed to win the group straight away and qualified for the championship round. In the semi-finals of the championship round they played at home against quarter-final winners Paju Citizen FC , against whom they surprisingly lost 2-1. Since the club was among the 6 best clubs, it automatically qualified for the Korean FA Cup . In their second season, the club again reached 1st place in the group stage. In the semi-finals of the championship round, the club met Icheon Citizen FC this time , which ended with 1: 1. Since Hwaseong FC was the host, Hwaseong FC automatically won the game and advanced to the final. There they met FC Pocheon . Hwaseong FC won the final and won the league championship for the first time. The club was also able to celebrate successes in the cup. In the first main round of the cup they received the Dongguk University , against whom they could win 2-1. In the subsequent round, the club had to compete against the then second division Suwon FC . The game was lost 3: 4 in the 90 'minute of the game by a goal from Jeong Min-uh . Nevertheless, the cup season could be rated positively.
In the following season 2015 , the club finished tied on points, but with a worse goal difference, the show phase behind Gimpo Citizen FC in second place. The second place was still enough to participate in the championship round. In the championship round they then received again Paju Citizen FC, which this time went 2-1 for Hwaseong FC. In the quarterfinals they then played against Gyeongju Citizen FC . The game ended 0-0. The subsequent penalty shootout was just lost to Gyeongju 7-8. The cup season, however, went very well. In their first round of the cup they played at home against league rivals Yangju Citizen FC , which they beat 3-0. Then you played against the third division club Mokpo City FC , against whom they could win again 2-1. In the fourth round of the cup they received another third division team. Against Changwon City FC they could also win 2-1 and caused a furore in the Korean FA Cup when they reached the round of 16. There you went against the first division club FC Seoul . The game ended just under 2-1 against Hwaseong FC. At the end of the season, coach Kim Jong-bu announced that he would move to second division side Gyeongnam FC . Both clubs met in the cup in 2017 after switching to the first one. The duel was called the Kim Jong-bu-Derby .
Lee Do-yeong was introduced as the successor to Kim Jong-bu . The 2016 season was an important season, as this season was about qualifying for the new K3 League Advance and K3 League Basic . All 20 clubs therefore played against each other once. The club reached 9th place and qualified for the new K3 League Advance, but failed to qualify for the championship round. This was the first time the club missed the goal of the championship round. In the cup, however, things went a little better. In their first round they faced Cheongju University , which they could beat 3-0 with confidence. In the subsequent round, however, the club failed 2-0 to Seoul E-Land FC .
present
Despite the missed season goal of the championship round, Lee Do-yeong was allowed to continue as a coach. In the premiere season of the K3 League Advance, the club achieved a very good 3rd place and qualified again for the championship round after 2015. In the quarter-finals they received Yangpyeong FC , against which the game ended 1: 1, but officially won due to home rights. They then met the other quarter-final winner Cheongju City FC . The game ended goalless in front of 710 spectators. However, since Cheongju had home rights in this game, Hwaseong FC lost the game. Also in this cup season they did not get beyond the 3rd main round. In their first round they received again the Dongkook University, which they could again beat 1-0. They then played against Gyeongnam FC, where former coach Kim Jong-bu was still working. The game was declared the 1st Kim Jong-bu derby . The game was just lost 0: 1. After the end of the season, Lee Do-yeong's contract was not renewed, so he then had to leave.
The new coach was Kim Seong-nam , who was previously responsible for the reserve team at FC Seoul. 2018 was a bitter season for the club. Due to three missing points, the club narrowly missed the championship round with 7th place. Even with the renewed reaching the 3rd main round of the cup, no successes could be celebrated. In the third main round, the club failed 3-2 at Yongin University . After the end of the season, Kim Seong-nam also had to leave.
For the 2019 season, Kim Hak-cheol was hired as a coach.
