Namyangju Citizen FC was a soccer franchise based in Namyangju , South Korea . The club played in the K3 League , the fourth highest division in South Korea.
history
founding
The club was founded on February 13, 2008 under the name Namyangju United FC . The club's first and only coach was Lee Hyeon-taek.
First years (2008 - 2011)
Your inaugural season went very well. The first half of the series they finished in 8th place. The second half of the series in 6th place. The club lacked two points for qualifying for the Korean FA Cup 2009 . Thus, the club narrowly missed the cup qualification. The main sponsor also announced after the end of the season that it would discontinue its sponsorship. The city of Namyangju then took sole control of the club and renamed it Namyangju Citizen FC . The following season went better. The club finished the season in 7th place and qualified for the Korean FA Cup for the first time . In 2010 the league was split into two groups. Namyangju was drawn to Group B. The club finished the season in their group in fourth place in the table. The club still managed to qualify for the cup. In their premiere cup season, the club competed against Dankook University , but lost the game in extra time 2: 4. In the 2011 season, the club was drawn from Group A. The season was very bad for the club. In the end, the club achieved a very poor 6th place. Things didn't go well in the cup either. Against Yeungnam University , the club lost 4-0 in Round 1 and was eliminated again very early.
Last K3 League season and subsequent dissolution (2012)
In 2012 it became known for the first time that the club was in financial difficulties, but the club was allowed to participate in the league. The club ended its last season in 8th place in the table. At the end of 2012 it became known that the association was dissolved by the city because the necessary support to continue the association in the city was lacking. Thus, the club dissolved completely at the end of 2012. In 2015 it was announced that the city wanted to build a new team and return to the K3 League . In 2018, however, the city administration announced that this project had failed and plans would not be pursued further.
