Paju Citizen FC is a football franchise based in Paju , South Korea . The club takes part in the K3 League Advance , the fourth highest division in South Korea.
history
Foundation (2012)
Due to the high popularity of the K3 League , the city of Paju also decided to found its own club and let it compete in the K3 League. The club was then founded on February 16, 2012. Jo Deok-jeung was the club's first coach.
First seasons (2012-2017)
In its premiere season, the club immediately reached first place in the group stage and then qualified for the championship final. In the championship quarter- finals they faced Cheongju Jikji FC , which went 1-1 on penalties. The penalty shoot-out ended with 5: 4 for Paju. They then met Chuncheon FC in the semifinals . The game was lost 3-2 to Chuncheon. After the season ended, Jo Deok-jeung left. He was succeeded by Oh Won-jae. In their second season they reached 2nd place in the group stage and qualified again for the championship final. In the first championship round they met again on Cheongju Jikji FC and again won the game against them 3-1. They then met Gyeongju Citizen FC in the quarter-finals . They won the game 1-0 for themselves. They met Hwaseong FC in the semi-finals . They won against Hwaseong FC 2-1 and then competed in the final against FC Pocheon . In the final, however, they lost 4-0 to Pocheon. In their cup premiere season, they met Ulsan University in the first main round , which they beat 1-0. Then they met Gyeongju KHNP FC in the second main round , which they lost 1: 3.
In 2014, the club was able to achieve second place again and qualified again for the championship finals. In the first round they competed against Jungnang Chorus FC . The game went into extra time with 1: 1. Paju won the game 2-1 in extra time and went through one round. Icheon Citizen FC were received in the quarterfinals . The game was lost, however, with 1: 2. Also in the cup they were eliminated early. In the first main round you met Hongik University . The game was lost 3-0. The 2015 season was disappointing for the club. The club was able to qualify for the championship finals with 3rd place in the group stage. In the first round they met again on Hwaseong FC. The game was lost this time with 1: 2, so that the club was eliminated again early. The club also retired early in the cup. In the first round of the cup they lost 1: 2 to Dankook University .
2016 was a special season for the league. During the season, qualification for the new K3 League Advance and K3 League Basic was determined. The club reached 7th place among the 20 teams that took part and thus qualified for the new K3 League Advance, but did not reach the championship finals. In the cup, the club was able to advance to the second round this time. They first faced Goyang Citizen FC and won the duel 2-1. The club then lost to Daejeonm Korail FC 3-0. In the first season of Advance, the club reached a disappointing 11th place and relegated to the K3 League Basic. Because of the relegation, Oh Won-jae was relieved of his duties as a coach. He was succeeded by Jeong Seong-hun. In the cup, they were eliminated from Cheongju City FC 2: 3 on penalties.

For the 2018 season, the club announced the resurgence. The club ended the season in second place and thus rose directly back to the K3 League Advance. In the cup, the club did not get far again. In their first round they met Buyeo FC , which they could beat 3-0. In the next round you met Gyeongju Citizen FC. Against Gyeongju they lost 0: 1 and were eliminated early.
