Harkakötöny is a Hungarian community in the district Kiskunhalas in Bács-Kiskun .
Geographical location
Harkakötöny is halfway between the cities of Kiskunhalas and Kiskunmajsa . To the north of the village is the 130-hectare lake Harkaí-tó .
history
Archaeological finds show that Cumans settled in the area in the 13th century . The municipality of Harkakötöny was created in 1949 through the merger of the villages of Harka and Kötöny .
Infrastructure
In addition to the mayor's office, there is a kindergarten, elementary school, library, cultural center, post office, family doctor's practice and a police station in the village. There is also a sports hall and a sports field that are used by two sports clubs. The place is traditionally agricultural with rye and wheat cultivation as well as sheep breeding . Forestry also plays an important role. Crude oil and natural gas are produced in the area of the municipality.

traffic
Road No. 5402 runs south of Harkakötöny and can be reached from the municipality via secondary road No. 54107. There are train connections in the direction of Baja and Kecskemét via the train station on the southwestern outskirts .
