Pirtó is a Hungarian community in the district Kiskunhalas in Bács-Kiskun . The districts of Csősztelekdűlő, Pirtóhegy and Zsombostódűlő belong to the municipality. The municipality got its name from a former lake called Pir-tó, which was located nearby, but it was reed and dried up in the middle of the 20th century.

Geographical location

Pirtó is ten kilometers north of the city of Kiskunhalas . Neighboring communities are Soltvadkert and Tázlár.

history

Archaeological finds show that the area was inhabited as early as the time of the Árpáds . In the 1880s the railway line and in 1912 the train station in Pirtó were built. Until 1947 the place belonged to the city of Kiskunhalas and has been an independent municipality since then. In 1949 the place had 1,161 inhabitants.

Infrastructure

In addition to the mayor's office, there is a kindergarten, elementary school, library, cultural center, post office, family doctor's practice and a police station in the village. The place is traditionally dominated by agriculture with viticulture , fruit growing as well as rye and barley cultivation . Animal husbandry is characterized by sheep and cattle breeding . In addition, various businesses have settled in an industrial park in the municipality.

traffic

The main road No. 53 runs through Pirtó. The community is connected to the railway line from Budapest East Station to Kelebia . There is a train station and the Pirtói szőlők stop in the village . There are also cycle paths to the neighboring towns of Soltvadkert and Kiskunhalas.
