William Frederick Denning
William Frederick Denning (born November 25, 1848 in Redpost, † June 9, 1931 in Bristol ) was a British astronomer .
He spent a lot of time finding comets, which he succeeded in doing. His discoveries include the periodic comet 72D / Denning-Fujikawa and the now-lost comet D / 1894 F1 .
He also searched and investigated meteors and novae . He also discovered Nova Cygni in 1920 ( V476 Cygni ).

- 2009 namesake for the asteroid (71885) Denning
In addition, craters on Mars and the moon are named after him.
