IC 524 is a lenticular galaxy of the Hubble type S0 in the constellation Hydra south of the ecliptic . It is estimated to be 192 million light years from the Milky Way and about 60,000 light years across.
The object was discovered by Stéphane Javelle on February 18, 1893 .
