The gymnastics competition on the men's rings at the Olympic Games in Athens in 1896 was held on April 9 in the Panathinaiko Stadium .

It was the fifth gymnastics competition of the Games, in which 15 athletes from 5 nations competed. Olympic champion was the Greek Ioannis Mitropoulos , ahead of the German Hermann Weingärtner , who won his fifth medal. Third place went to Petros Persakis from Greece. There is no record of which athlete finished fourth, possibly one of the athletes listed below without a placement.
