Desiderius "Dezső" Wein (born January 19, 1873 in Budapest ; † June 5, 1944 there ) was a Hungarian gymnast and later a doctor

Career

Wein, who started for the BBTE Budapest , took part in the Olympic Summer Games in Athens in 1896 and competed in the disciplines of horse jumping, horizontal bar , parallel bars and pommel horse . His exact result has not been passed down, as only the medalists are mentioned in the sources. Two years earlier he had won the Hungarian Championships. After his active time he became chairman of the BBTE Budapest and was mainly responsible for the introduction of skiing in Hungary.

In addition to his athletic career, Wein studied medicine and graduated just a year after the Olympics. He then worked as a doctor. In his free time, Wein was a hiker and wrote three books about his experiences and his sporting activities.

Wein was married twice and had four children.
