NGC 2655 = Arp 225 is a lenticular galaxy of the Hubble type SB0 / a in the constellation Giraffe in the northern sky . It is an estimated 69 million light years away from the Milky Way and has a diameter of about 95,000 ly. Together with NGC 2591 , NGC 2715 , NGC 2748 and three other galaxies, it forms the NGC-2655 group .

Halton Arp organized his catalog of unusual galaxies into groups according to purely morphological criteria. This galaxy belongs to the class of galaxies with amorphous spiral arms .

The Type Ia supernova SN 2011B was observed here.

The object was discovered on September 26, 1802 by the German-British astronomer William Herschel .
