NGC 3712 = Arp 203 is a bar-spiral galaxy of the Hubble-type SB? in the constellation Leo on the ecliptic . It is estimated to be 69 million light years from the Milky Way .
Halton Arp organized his catalog of unusual galaxies into groups according to purely morphological criteria. This galaxy belongs to the class of galaxies with matter ejected from the nucleus . In the same area of the sky is u. a. the galaxy NGC 3713 .
The object was discovered by John Herschel on March 26, 1827 .
