NGC 2591 is a spiral galaxy of Hubble type Sc in the constellation Giraffe at the northern sky . It is estimated to be 65 million light years from the Milky Way and about 55,000 light years in diameter.
Together with NGC 2655 , NGC 2715 , NGC 2748 it forms the NGC 2655 group .
The object was discovered on August 12, 1866 by Heinrich Louis d'Arrest .
