NGC 2598 is a barred spiral galaxy of the Hubble type SBa in the constellation Cancer on the ecliptic . It is estimated to be 202 million light years away from the Milky Way and about 80,000 light years in diameter.
The galaxies NGC 2595 and IC 2382 are in the same area of the sky .
The object was discovered by Albert Marth on January 1st, 1864 .
