NGC 2616 is a lenticular galaxy of the Hubble type S0 in the constellation Hydra south of the ecliptic . It is estimated to be 410 million light years from the Milky Way and about 135,000 light years in diameter.

In the same area of ​​the sky are u. a. the galaxies IC 514 , IC 515 , IC 516 , IC 517 .

The object was discovered by Lewis Swift on March 9, 1886 .
