NGC 2616 is a lenticular galaxy of the Hubble type S0 in the constellation Hydra south of the ecliptic . It is estimated to be 410 million light years from the Milky Way and about 135,000 light years in diameter.
In the same area of the sky are u. a. the galaxies IC 514 , IC 515 , IC 516 , IC 517 .
The object was discovered by Lewis Swift on March 9, 1886 .
