NGC 2599 is a spiral galaxy of Hubble type Sa in the constellation Cancer on the ecliptic . It is estimated to be 208 million light years from the Milky Way and about 120,000 light years in diameter.
The supernova SN 1965P was observed here.
The object was discovered on November 16, 1784 by Wilhelm Herschel .
