NGC 2603 is a compact galaxy with an active nucleus of the Hubble type C in the constellation Great Bear in the northern sky . It is an estimated 767 million light years from the Milky Way and about 70,000 light years in diameter .
The galaxies NGC 2600 , NGC 2602 , NGC 2605 , NGC 2606 are in the same area of ​​the sky .

The object was discovered on February 9, 1850 by George Johnstone Stoney .
