NGC 2572 is a spiral galaxy with an active nucleus of the Hubble type Sa in the constellation Cancer on the ecliptic . It is an estimated 353 million light years from the Milky Way and about 135,000 light years in diameter.
In the same area of the sky are u. a. the galaxies IC 2307 , IC 2308 and IC 2329 .
The object was discovered by Édouard Stephan on February 2, 1877 .
