NGC 2562 is a lenticular galaxy with an active nucleus of the Hubble type S0 / a in the constellation Cancer on the ecliptic . It is an estimated 220 million light years from the Milky Way and about 65,000 light years in diameter.
In the same area of the sky are the galaxies NGC 2560 , NGC 2563 , NGC 2570 , IC 2293 .
The object was discovered by Wilhelm Herschel on February 13, 1787 .
