NGC 2547 is the name of an open star cluster in the constellation Vela . NGC 2547 has a diameter of 25 arc minutes and an apparent magnitude of 4.7 mag. It was discovered in South Africa in 1751 by the astronomer Nicolas Louis de Lacaille .
