NGC 2543 = IC 2232 is a bar-spiral galaxy of the Hubble type SBb in the constellation Lynx in the northern sky . It is estimated to be 109 million light years from the Milky Way and about 75,000 light years across.
The galaxy IC 2234 is located in the same area of the sky .
The object was discovered by Wilhelm Herschel on February 3, 1788 .
