IC 2249 is a spiral galaxy of Hubble type S in the constellation Cancer on the ecliptic . It is an estimated 395 million light years from the Milky Way and about 35,000 light years in diameter.
In the same area of the sky are u. a. the galaxies IC 2254 , IC 2256 , IC 2267 , IC 2271 .
The object was discovered by Max Wolf on January 9, 1901 .
