IC 2268 is a compact dwarf galaxy of Hubble type C in the constellation Cancer on the ecliptic . It is estimated to be 87 million light years from the Milky Way and about 5,000 light years across.
In the same area of the sky are u. a. the galaxies IC 501 , IC 2254 , IC 2267 , IC 2282 .
The object was discovered by Stéphane Javelle on February 11, 1896 .
